Piercing Aftercare Guide

We can’t wait to see all of our Punktured family again. And while we will be opening soon (fingers crossed!), we are currently unable to conduct piercing and aftercare appointments. To help with the latter, we have composed a quick guide. All our aftercare products are designed specifically for the healing of body piercings and conform with the relevant European legislation. So, you can rest assured that they are of the highest standards.

But before we touch upon some of our aftercare products (available for purchase through our website), here are a few general rules to always bear in mind:

    • We recommend waiting a minimum of four months before changing jewellery (slightly less for oral piercings).
    • Always wear biocompatible jewellery and avoid materials that set off your allergies.
    • Do not share or swap your jewellery with anybody else.
    • Never touch your new piercing with unwashed hands.
    • Your piercing must always be kept clean and dry.
    • Maintaining good general hygiene is important.
    • Avoid friction (contact sports are a no-no) on fresh piercings.

Now that’s out of the way, let’s have a look at our products and go through their proper use.

SALINE SOLUTION (The Blue One)

Ideal for fresh external piercings – or those that might have been slightly damaged – The Blue One is both hygienic and completely natural.

  • Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.
  • Spray onto a cotton swab and delicately clean the piercing.
  • If the area does not dry quickly, pat gently with a clean and dry swab.

HYGIENIC SOLUTION (The Orange One)

The Orange One is tailored towards eliminating bacteria located on the skin’s surface. Its anti-bacterial properties mean it is the perfect solution for flare ups or those more stubborn piercings that take a while to heal. It can also be used as a preventative measure. It contains chlorhexidine digluconate (CHG), a disinfectant and antiseptic used specifically for skin disinfection.

  • Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.
  • Spray onto a cotton swab and delicately clean the piercing.
  • Rinse piercing with saline solution.
  • If the area does not dry quickly, pat gently with a clean and dry swab.

CLEANSING FOAM (The Green One)

Used for daily cleansing of healed body piercings, The Green One has been carefully developed to respect the body’s skin – flora balance. Does not contain perfume.

  • Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water (there is a theme developing here).
  • Spray onto a cotton swab and delicately clean the piercing.
  • Rinse piercing with saline solution.
  • If the area does not dry quickly, pat gently with a clean and dry swab.

THE MOUTHWASH

Ideal for mouth piercing maintenance, its delicate formula respects the natural balance of the microbial flora, allowing for frequent use. Clove is a central ingredient containing antibacterial, antifungal, and congestion relieving properties.

  • Mix one-part solution and three parts water.
  • Rinse mouth and be sure not to swallow (twice daily).

All of the above are available on our online store. But it’s not just aftercare products. We have a wide variety of jewellery for you to choose from, including some online exclusives.
