Update to Our Nostril Piercing Jewellery for Improved Comfort & Healing
We’re making a small change that can make a big difference to your comfort and healing.
From now on, Punktured will be using 1mm titanium labret-style studs for all new nostril piercings. This update reflects best practices in modern piercing jewellery design and helps us deliver an even smoother experience from day one.
If you’ve got any questions about what this means for you, just ask; we’re always happy to talk you through it.

What is a titanium labret-style stud?
A labret stud is a straight post with a flat disc backing that sits comfortably inside the nose. It’s designed to feel secure, sit neatly, and reduce unnecessary irritation while your piercing is healing.
Why we’re switching to titanium labret-style studs for nostril piercings
Flat back = less irritation inside the nose
Unlike bulkier shapes, the flat disc backing is made to sit smoothly inside your nostril. That means:
- It feels more comfortable against the inner nose
- It’s less likely to poke sensitive tissue
- There’s less friction, which can support easier healing
More stable and secure during healing
Labret posts don’t twist, flip, or work loose as easily as other styles. That stability can help:
- Keep the piercing aligned
- Reduce micro-movement that contributes to bumps and delayed healing
- Lower the risk of the jewellery being pulled through the piercing
Easier to clean (without overhandling)
The straight post and flat disc design is simpler to keep clean:
- No tight curves to trap debris
- Fewer crevices for build-up
- Easier to clean around gently without irritating the piercing
A better fit for swelling
We’re using push-fit labret posts, which come in precise lengths. That allows your piercer to choose:
- A slightly longer post initially (to allow for swelling)
- A shorter, snug post later (once healing is well underway)
This helps reduce pressure and can prevent issues like embedding.
Less likely to contribute to bumps
Because labrets minimise irritation and movement, they’re generally less likely to trigger common irritation issues such as:
- Hypertrophic bumps
- Excess scar tissue
What about nose screws?
Nose screws have served clients well for years, and they can still be a strong option once a piercing is fully healed.
This update simply reflects improvements in jewellery design and industry standards, helping us offer a more comfortable and reliable start for fresh nostril piercings.
